Template Query Debug

I often find something like this lurking at the end of my base templates - it'll show you which queries were run while generating the current page, but they'll start out hidden so as not to be a pain. Of course, before this works, you'll need to satisfy all the criteria for getting debug information in your template context: 1. Have `'django.core.context_processors.debug'` in your `TEMPLATE_CONTEXT_PROCESSORS` setting (it was there in the default settings, last time I checked). 2. Have your current IP in your `INTERNAL_IPS` setting. 3. Use [RequestContext](http://www.djangoproject.com/documentation/templates_python/#subclassing-context-requestcontext) when rendering the current template (if you're using a generic view, you're already using `RequestContext`).

Using the {% widthratio %} template tag with CSS to create a bar graph

The {% widthratio %} template tag is under appreciated! Here, it's combined with CSS to create a bar graphic for the results of an election (this example comes from [this page](http://flickr.com/photos/postneo/405239750/in/photostream/), but has been modified slightly for simplicity's sake). The widthratio tag can be used to create all sorts of graphs and charts, as well as things like tag clouds. Here, we pass it the number of votes for a candidate, the total number of votes in the election, and the integer 190, which is the width, in pixels, of a "full" bar on the bar graph. In other words, 100% = 190 pixels. It works great!

Add delete buttons to admin changelist

This adds a checkbox for each object and three buttons to a model's change list: 1. **Delete selected:** deletes the selected objects 2. **Delete shown: ** deletes all the visible objects. For example, if you perform a search or in any way filter the list, this button deletes only objects that were filtered. 3. **Delete all: ** Deletes all instances of the model, including those not shown (if looking at a filtered list). The deletes perform no confirmation -- once you hit the buttons the models are **gone**, so maybe don't use (or add a confirmation screen) for really sensitive stuff. * uses django oldforms-admin (ie 0.96) * works fine if you include a search_fields list in the Admin class * code for the view could probably be refactored a bit :)

Google Charts Templatetags (HTML)

Example usage of the GChartWrapper.charts module for creating dynamic charts with templatetags. It is an easy method of creating dynamic GoogleCharts from the [GoogleChartAPI](http://code.google.com/apis/chart/). The project is located at [google-chartwrapper](http://code.google.com/p/google-chartwrapper/). To get the most recent version: `svn checkout http://google-chartwrapper.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/` and run `python setup.py` in the downloaded trunk directory. There is an included django project there with the [ChartsExamples](http://code.google.com/p/google-chartwrapper/wiki/ChartExamples) all worked out in django templates

YUI editor for flatpages inside admin interface

This template extends the change form for the flatpages inside the admin interface to use [Yahoo! User Interface Library](http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/)'s [Rich Text Editor](http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/editor/). It should be named `change_form.html` and be placed in the `admin/flatpages/flatpage/` directory of the project templates.

Captcha Middleware (Template)

A middleware we are using to stop "spam" on Curse. It makes the user fill in a captcha box whenever they submit a form unless a cookie is set (which expires by default after 6 hours) See also [the python script](http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/127/)

mark a required field by "*" in a template

the trick resides in `field.field.required`. The intuitive way of testing this in the templates is to access `field.required`. But it's not the good one. Enjoy! Simple DRY Tabs using Django 1.3

I was just playing around with Django 1.3 and came across the new 'with' addition to the include tag. I thought this was a super elegant way to implement a DRY tab menu without having to move menu code into the views. Enjoy!

"If in" templatetag

It's been a while, but I think I made this by copying and pasting the default {% if %} tag and modifying it. Does what it says, lets you test for inclusion in a list, in templates, like so: {% ifin item list %}.

Auto Generate/Save Thumbnails using Template Filter (scale max_x, max_y, or both)

Couldn't get the original to work, and wanted more functionality (scale on x or y coordinates) <img src="{{ object.image.url }}" alt="original image"> <img src="{{ object.image|thumbnail:"250w" }}" alt="image resized to 250w x (calculated/scaled)h "> <img src="{{ object.image|thumbnail:"250h" }}" alt="image resized to (calculated/scaled)w x 250h h "> <img src="{{ object.image|thumbnail:"250x200" }}" alt="image resized to 250wx200h "> <img src="{{ object.image|thumbnail }}" alt="image resized to default 200w (or whatever you default it to) format"> Original http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/192/ Adapted http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/955/ Sampled From: http://batiste.dosimple.ch/blog/2007-05-13-1/ http://vaig.be/2008/05/17/stdimagefield-improved-image-field-for-django/

Template range filter

Easy to use range filter. Just in case you have to use a "clean" for loop in the template. Inspired by [Template range tag](http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/779/) Copy the file to your templatetags and load them. Foldable Admin Interface

Have you had a rather huge database, say 50-100+ tables? Why not compress the tables you don't want to see and expand the ones that you do want to see? This template should do the trick. It uses cookies to remember which tabs you have open and which ones you have closed. This should work on .91 to current. How to install - just CP code and save as index.html toss in your media folder under /path_to_media/template_folder/admin/index.html. next download mootools and toss this into /path_to_media/js_folder/mootools.js (alternatively you could be lazy and cp mootools into the script tag of this template) A quick and dirty fix but it sure saves time trying to find the tables you are looking for.
