This is a snippet to use Paypal with python. This modifies Mike Atlas's geocept Paypal library. (Which was not working, for me at least) and adds recurring payments. I would try to write an article explaining how to use this and update the snippet.

This snippet introduces two tags: `{%dbinfo%}` and `{%dbquerylist%}`. The `{%dbinfo%}` tag returns a string with the # of database queries and aggregate DB time. The `{%dbquerylist%}` tag expands to a set of <LI> elements containing the actual SQL queries executed. If `settings.TEMPLATE_DEBUG` is False, both tags return empty strings.

Really simple locking.
This code provides a mixin and decorator which, when used together, can provide advisory locking on model methods. It provides locking by using MySQL's advisory lock system. See the example at the bottom of the code. This is a convenient and easy way to guarantee your model methods have exclusive access to a model instance. The LockableObjects class requires a MySQL backend, but it could be modified to use other back-end locking systems. The lock name generation in `LockableObject.get_lock_name()` could be altered to create much more complex locking schemes. Locking per-object, per-method for example.. Lock attempts have a timeout value of 45 seconds by default. If a timeout occurs, EnvironmentError is raised. **See the bottom of the script for an example** > **Instructions:** * **1:** Place the code in locking.py somewhere in your path * **2:** In your models.py (or any script with an object you want to lock): `from locking import LockableObject, require_object_lock` * **3:** In the model you want locking for, add the `LockableObject` mixin * **4:** Decorate the method you want to be exclusively locked with `@require_object_lock`
If you use this pattern to track changes in the auth user table: from django.contrib.auth.models import User from reversion.helpers import patch_admin patch_admin(User) you can't see important changes, since a version is created for every login if a user. If you want to get rid of changes which only change unimportant stuff you can use this middleware. This middleware can be used for every model. Django-piston have two build-in authentication handlers, the HttpBasicAuthentication and OAuthAuthentication. This snippet give another choice which use the django auth. It can support ajax and normal request.
I often find myself testing that the queryset returned by a method contains the instances I expect. I use a custom method, **assertQuerysetEqual()**, to test the equality of two querysets or lists:: def test_some_values(self): qs = get_user_list() self.assertQuerysetEqual(qs, [normal_user, super_user]) Makes it easy to test small querysets against lists whose values are known and expected.
This is a simple solution aimed at saving some time when you simply want to get a slug from a model field just before saving.
This code publishes an iCal file that can be subscribed to in Google Calendar. They change the way they interpret iCal data occasionally, so this may break, I'll try to keep it up to date. There is some crazy string replace stuff going on there, I haven't yet convinced vObject to format things properly. Feedback welcome. *Note: this works for my existing feeds, but if I add a new feed to GCal, the timezones are incorrect, I'm working on that.
Drops all tables in MySQL table (either managed by Django or not). Useful when resetting the database with no CREATE DATABASE privileges. MySQL-only.

The code here will take an EmailMessage from django.core.mail and replace the sourcing of any images served by the application with attached image content. Note: This expects a valid closing tag of **/>** on img elements, it will not properly handle filenames with **'** characters in it, and it does not handle if invalid image sources are listed.
