Django's transition from oldforms to newforms is nearing. If you're using recent trunk source code from Django's subversion repository, you should start using newforms. But there are still some rough edges as of today. File uploading seems to be one of them. (Adrian and other Django folks are well aware of this. Please don't bother them by asking "Are we there yet?") The Django mailing lists and Google searching didn't turn up any best practices for this area of newforms, so I muddled through it and here's the result. I omit the urls.py code necessary to hook up the zip_upload method to a URL, but otherwise this should be complete. And if I haven't loaded this with enough caveats...please be aware this code may be obsoleted soon.
The class LocationField renders a form field with map (from google maps) and a mark. It allows the user to drag the mark to point at some particular location, whose value (lat, lng) is saved in a hidden field. It requires jquery and google maps.

This function emulates the file upload behaviour of django's admin, but can be used in any view. It takes a list of POST keys that represent uploaded files, and saves the files into a date-formatted directory in the same manner as a `FileField`'s `upload_to` argument.
Observation: depends on jQuery to works! Nutshell: Subclass this form with the required fields defined to automatically generate a form based on a model in a similar fashion to how form_for_model works, but in a way that tries to be a little easier if you want to customize the form. It handles updates and creations automatically as long as any database field requirements are met. This is something I made while trying to understand newforms, and is my own attempt at something between the simplicity of a stock form_for_model form, and a full blown custom form. The proper way is to use a callback function to customize form_for_model, but that felt cumbersome so I did it my way :) It works for me, but I'm relatively new to both python and Django so please test yourself before trusting.
the trick resides in `field.field.required`. The intuitive way of testing this in the templates is to access `field.required`. But it's not the good one. Enjoy! When using a JavaScript WYSIWYG editor widget for text area content, the resulting HTML should be sanitized so no unallowed HTML tags (esp. script tags) are present. The [BeautifulSoup](http://www.crummy.com/software/BeautifulSoup/) library handles HTML processing in the solution presented above, so you should place it in the Python path. The snippet also assumes that you have [the Dojo Toolkit](http://dojotoolkit.org/) and its Editor2 widget loaded on your page. **Note**: this snippet was originally written for use with Dojo Toolkit 0.4, and it hasn't been updated for 0.9 or 1.0.
A simple way to handle file validation by checking for a proper content_type and by making sure that the file does not go over its limit upload size limit. In the example I am checking to make sure the file is an image or a video file then I check to make sure that the file is below the max upload limit. if conditions are not met, then a validation error is raised
A widget for selecting from a list of `Model` instances using `MultipleChoiceField` which renders a table row for each choice, consisting of a column for a checkbox followed by a column for each item specified in `item_attrs`, which must specify attributes of the objects passed as choices.
This is an extended version of the FormWizard which allows display of multiple forms per step and allows usage of ModelForms with initial objects
This is an extended version of django wizard with the ability to go back and execute any step directly. To define next step to execute use the form field with the name "wizard_next_step". Don't forget to specify in your form the wizard_max_step field, so the knows the step number with the highest number, where the user was. An other improvement is the variable "wizard_data". It's a QueryDict with data from all wizard forms. It can be used to retrieve values from the field values of the forms from other steps. It could be helpfully for the latest step, where the user should see an overview of his input.
This snippet defines a Widget that is very similar to the **SelectDateWidget** located in django.forms.extras.widgets. The main difference however is that it works with Times instead of Dates. The SelectTimeWidget supports both 24-hr and 12-hr formats, and flexible time increments for hours, minutes and seconds.
